After 5 years of seemingly endless waiting, it is nearing time for the release of the new, highly anticipated Paul Thomas Anderson’s film, The Master.   The film, which stars Joaquin Phoenix as a war veteran who becomes entranced by a religious leader eerily similar to L. Ron Hubbard (played by Philip Seymour Hoffman), is slated for release later this month.

As part of a collaboration with Alamo Drafthouse and Badass Digest, P.T. Anderson himself has cut a short 1-2 minute clip from the film in order to promote a special sneak preview that will take place on the 10th of September at the Alamo Ritz in Austin, TX.  The clip shows Joaquin Phoenix as he sits in for what appears to be a standard psych evaluation, and well.. the rest you’d better just see for yourself.

Warning, the language in the clip gets pretty vulgar, so if you’re still rocking those virgin ear drums, you may want to break out some earmuffs.
