Last night at the MTV Movie Awards (See winners list here), we were treated to a brand new clip from Rise of the Planet of the Apes which is directed by Rupert Wyatt and stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Andy Serkis, Brian Cox, and Tom Felton. If you missed the new trailer for the movie which was release last week, you can have a watch here. It hits UK cinemas 12th August.

An origin story in the true sense of the word, RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is set in present day San Francisco. The film is a reality-based cautionary tale — a science fiction/science-fact blend where mankind’s hubris leads to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy. Oscar(R)-winning visual effects house WETA Digital – employing certain of the groundbreaking technologies developed for “Avatar” – will render, for the first time ever in the film series, photo-realistic apes rather than costumed actors.

The ceremony had a stellar line up of people to present including: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Steve Carell, Emma Stone, Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Patrick Dempsey, Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel, Jesse Eisenberg, Aziz Ansari, Danny McBride, Nicki Minaj, Selena Gomez, Leighton Meester and Katie Cassidy. The event was hosted by Jason Sudeikis, in the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, CA.
