Red-Dawn-PosterArriving in US theatres today, in time for Thanksgiving, Red Dawn promises a healthy dose of action for those seeking something more explosive and weapons-heavy in the midst of the awards season’s dramatic leanings.

We caught the latest patriotic trailer for the film last week, and as the film heads into cinemas today, Yahoo Movies have released a new clip, featuring the famous battle cry in the new remake.

“A city in Washington state awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky – shockingly, the U.S. has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerilla group of fighters. Taking inspiration from their high school mascot, they call themselves the Wolverines, banding together to protect one another, liberate their town from its captors, and take back their freedom.”

Chris Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Josh Peck, Adrianne Palicki, Isabel Lucas, Brett Cullen, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan lead the cast, with long-time stunt co-ordinator Dan Bradley (the Bourne films, Three Kings) making his directorial debut from a script by Carl Ellsworth (Disturbia) and Jeremy Passmore (Special).

Red Dawn is released in US theatres today, 21st November, as we head into the Thanksgiving holiday tomorrow. Still no word on when it’s likely to be released here in the UK, but given the high-profile cast, and the fame of the original, here’s to hoping it will be coming our way in the New Year. For now, here’s the latest clip from the film.
