MUBI has unveiled the official trailer for ‘Minotaur,’ the powerful new film from Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Andrey Zvyagintsev (Leviathan, Loveless, The Return), ahead of its UK and Ireland cinema release later this month.
The announcement follows the film’s acclaimed World Premiere in Competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where ‘Minotaur’ was awarded the prestigious Grand Prix. The film has also been selected as France’s submission for Best International Feature Film at the Academy Awards.
Set in Russia in 2022, Minotaur follows Gleb, a successful company director whose carefully ordered life begins to unravel under mounting corporate pressures and an increasingly unstable world. As the pressures surrounding him intensify, Gleb finds himself under siege, with the collapse of his once-controlled existence accelerating towards violence.
Zvyagintsev directs and co-writes the film alongside Semen Lyashenko. The filmmaker is no stranger to Cannes success, having previously received the Best Screenplay award for ‘Leviathan’ and the Jury Prize for ‘Loveless.’
