Jeremy Renner and Josh Brolin are set to headline ‘A Speck in the Sea,’ a survival thriller based on an extraordinary true story. Oscar-winning filmmaker Orlando von Einsiedel (The White Helmets) is directing, with Oscar-nominated screenwriter Jeff Pope (Philomena) penning the screenplay.
The film tells the incredible story of Johnny Aldridge (Brolin), a Montauk lobster fisherman who, in 2013, fell overboard from his fishing boat in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The accident happened in the dead of night, while his best friend and fishing partner, Anthony Sosinski (Renner), was asleep below deck.

Meanwhile, stranded in the vast expanse of the Atlantic, Johnny must fight to stay alive, relying on every survival technique and resourceful trick he can think of as he battles the unforgiving ocean.
‘A Speck in the Sea’ is being produced by Emmy nominee Mark Bauch for One Day’s Walk and two-time BAFTA nominee Jonathan Eirich for Rideback. Further casting and release details have yet to be announced.
