MGM+ has unveiled the first look images from ‘Bosch: Start of Watch,’ an upcoming prequel series exploring the origins of Michael Connelly’s legendary detective Harry Bosch. ‘Shameless’ and ‘Gotham’ star Cameron Monaghan takes on the role of a young Harry Bosch, with Omari Hardwick (Star Trek: Section 31, Army of the Dead) co-starring as veteran officer Eli Bridges.
Based on Michael Connelly’s bestselling book series, which also spawned Prime Video’s hugely popular ‘Bosch’ franchise, the eight-episode series takes viewers back to 1992 Los Angeles, following 26-year-old Bosch during his earliest days as a rookie police officer.
Set against a city on the edge, ‘Bosch: Start of Watch’ explores a volatile Los Angeles gripped by racial tension, gang violence and a fractured LAPD. As Bosch navigates routine police calls and growing unrest, he becomes caught up in a high-profile heist and a web of criminal corruption. The investigation will test his loyalty to the badge and help shape the detective he will eventually become.

At the heart of the story is the code that would define Bosch throughout his career: “Everybody counts or nobody counts.”
The series also stars Ariana Guerra as Rosa and JD Pardo as Cory. The wider ensemble includes Kathleen Wilhoite, William Fichtner, Rafi Gavron, Raphael Sbarge, Azita Ghanizada, Kenneth Miller, Seamus Dever, Ryan McPartlin, Marco Rodriguez and Shelli Boone.
‘Bosch: Start of Watch’ premieres on MGM+ on Sunday, 10th January 2027, with a two-episode launch. New episodes will then arrive weekly, leading up to the season finale on Sunday, 21st February 2027.
