Last month, you may have spotted a story which went viral about Michael Shannon getting trapped in a toilet while on the set of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The reason for that was because he had what he described as “flippers” on his hands at the time, and it didn’t take long for everyone to assume this was confirmation he’s playing Doomsday.

After all, if he’s playing that villain via motion capture, it makes sense that he would have something over his hands so a monstrous form could be CGI’d in during post. Bear in mind as well that rumours point to Zod’s remains being transformed by Luthor into Doomsday!

Shannon has now attempted to do some pretty unconvincing damage control though, claiming: “Somebody was asking me about this in New York and I made up some ridiculous bullshit answer about how my character Zod has flippers, and this went viral on the Internet or something and people have been asking me about that. That is so obviously a complete bullshit story, right? But people took it seriously.” That isn’t remotely believable, and the Boardwalk Empire alum went on to claim that he only appears in a voiceover role.

We know that’s not true though, as the actor could be seen as the corpse of General Zod in the latest Batman v Superman trailer, so it’s obvious he spent at least some time on set.

To make matters worse, Shannon then appeared to inadvertently confirm he is Doomsday by specifically mentioning him. “Maybe in Part 3, Doomsday will have flipper hands. I mean, look—nothing would make me happier than to work with Zack [Snyder] again, he’s hysterical and he’s a lot of fun to work with.” Yeah, he’s definitely Doomsday, don’t you think?
