A first look set of stills from the third and final instalment of the Maze Runner series of films, Maze Runner: The Death Cure starring Dylan O’Brien has been released via BuzzFeed News and MTV.

Based on The Maze Runner set of novels from James Dashner, the final film in the trilogy has Dylan O’Brien’s Thomas leading his group of escaped Gladers on their final and most dangerous mission yet. To save their friends, they must break into the legendary Last City, a WCKD-controlled labyrinth that may turn out to be the deadliest maze of all. Anyone who makes it out alive will get answers to the questions the Gladers have been asking since they first arrived in the maze.

The dystopian science fiction was initially due to be released in February this year, but due to a horrendous motorcycle accident on set which severely injured O’Brien, filming had to be stopped and delayed for nearly a year giving the actor time to recovery. The film is now due to be released at the end of January 2018.

Directed by Wes Ball, the final outing has a cast of Dylan O’Brien as Thomas, Kaya Scodelario as Teresa Agnes, Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Newt, Dexter Darden as Frypan, Nathalie Emmanuel as Harriet, Giancarlo Esposito as Jorge, Aidan Gillen as Janson, Walton Goggins as Lawrence, Ki Hong Lee as Minho, Jacob Lofland as Aris Jones, Barry Pepper as Vince, Will Poulter as Gally, Rosa Salazar as Brenda, Patricia Clarkson as Ava Paige

The new images have been released in expectation of the debut trailer, which is imminent.
