Matthias Schoenaerts has landed the villain role in Warner Bros./DC studios ‘Supergirl.’

Based on Tom King’s 2022 comic book series ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,’ Milly Alcock takes on the role of  Kara Zor-El/Supergirl. She’s also appearing in another DC project before making her big-screen debut.

The villain in the comic book series is Krem of the Yellow Hill, a skilled and ruthless swordsman and archer who kills the father of the secondary female lead character Ruthye Marye Knoll, and injures Kara’s dog Krypto.

Gunn and Safran are producing. DC EVP Chantal Nong is executive producing. Ana Nogueira adapted the comic book for the big screen. Craig Gillespie is set to direct.

Shooting is due to commence in the UK in January, 2025 with a slated release date for the summer of 2026.

Schoenaerts recently starred in the Max and HBO series ‘The Regime’ opposite Kate Winslet.
