Deadline brings news that one of Marvel’s smaller properties, Iron Fist, is currently being turned into a live-action feature.

The story behind the comic book (which is being written by xXx scribe Rich Wilkes) is a Batman-esque revenge tale combined with a large portion of kung fu mysticism as a young man raised as a martial-arts master in the fabled city of K’un-Lun, gives up an immortal life in paradise in order to return to the United States in pursuit of revenge.

Although this character is much further down Marvel’s food chain from the big hitters like Spiderman and Iron Man, the company are planning on rolling out a series of mid-budget adaptations like this (Dr. Strange, Ka-Zar, Luke Cage, Dazzler and Power Pack have all been mentioned) which could prove to be a shrewd move  as Marvel have a strong brand recognition and these films could make tidy returns in relation to the small production costs.
