With Comic-Con now right around the corner, Marvel and Netflix have revealed the first poster for their next highly anticipated series, Luke Cage. Illustrated by Marvel Comics artist Joe Quesada, the company’s Chief Content Officer had this to say about bringing Power Man to life here before the online streaming service brings a sneak peek to San Diego.

“There’s always great pressure with superhero posters. You’ve got one shot to encapsulate a character with a pose that’s provocative and that you hope will someday be iconic. Mike gives Luke a smouldering strength. He’s sexy and calming. And the ladies love it.”

The official synopsis for the series reveals that after a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city–forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.

Colter is joined in Luke Cage by Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe, Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth, Theo Rossi as Shades, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, a character Luke met back in Jessica Jones.

The show will premiere on Netflix at the end of September, so stay tuned for updates!
