Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is still quite some time away, but new details about the highly anticipated movie from Zack Snyder have finally found their way online after a couple of quiet months.

For a start, this latest report claims that iconic Superman villain Doomsday is indeed set to make an appearance. For those of you who don’t know – or who have chosen to forget his abysmal appearance in Smallville a number of years ago – he’s the monster that killed the Man of Steel in the comic books.

Lex Luthor (played by Jesse Eisenberg in Batman v Superman) meanwhile has a henchman with a name which may not be recognisable to even the biggest DC Comics fan, but could be a sign of Warner Bros. adopting the same Easter Egg heavy approach which has worked so well for the Marvel Studios movies.

That name is Anatoli Knyazev, a man better known as the villainous KGBeast. He is apparently part of a team who keep an eye on the world’s metahumans for Lex, including a wondrous woman seen in pictures in the 1800s, but who has not aged a day since. As you’ve likely already guessed, that’s Wonder Woman!

This particular titbit may confirm previous reports that the character’s solo movie – dated for 2017 with Breaking Bad’s Michelle MacLaren set to direct – will take place during the dark days of the first World War.

Finally, while Batman v Superman appears to be focusing more on the Man of Steel than the Caped Crusader, there will be at least a mention of The Joker as Superman apparently knows of him. It’s likely then that the Clown Prince of Crime will get little more than a mention, but this is a significant step in what appears to be the studio’s plan to build a shared universe for all of these iconic DC Comics characters…
