To celebrate the release of Loot, which debuts on Apple TV+ this week, we had the pleasure of chatting to the show’s lead, co-stars, and creators to find out more.
Billionaire Molly Novak (Rudolph) has a dream life, complete with private jets, a sprawling mansion, and a “gigayacht” — anything her heart desires. But when her husband of 20 years betrays her, she spirals publicly, becoming fuel for tabloid fodder. She’s reaching rock bottom when she learns, to her surprise, that she has a charity foundation and embarks on a journey of self-discovery, giving back to others might be what she needs to get back to herself.
Rudolph, along with cast members , chat about the premise of the show and why audiences will have their pre-conceived notions shattered pretty quickly, the camaraderie and fun the cast had together, and why the story has much more depth and potency to be labelled just a “comedy”.
Next, showrunners and co-creators Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard talk about the genesis of the show, why they knew Rudolph was the only choice for the lead role and how their previous collaboration set that in stone, and what audiences can expect from the unique narrative of the show.
