To celebrate the anticipated release of Lee, the new biopic/drama starring Oscar Winner Kate Winslet, we had the pleasure of chatting with some of the cast and filmmakers of the film to find out all about this timely historical story of the world’s foremost photographer.
Lee tells the story of Lee Miller (Winslet), American photographer. Determined to document the truth of the Nazi regime, and in spite of the odds stacked against female correspondents, Lee captured some of the most important images of World War II, but they came at an enormous personal price.

Chatting to Alexander Sarsgaard (Roland Penrose, Miller’s husband), Andy Samberg (David Scherman, Miller’s photography partner), and Andrea Riseborough (Audrey Withers, Vogue magazine’s editor), we discuss their parts in Miller’s extraordinary life, the lure of working with Winslet and how easy it was to say yes, playing real people and, for Samberg, the challenges he faced with this being his first dramatic role after his comedic roles in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Saturday Night Live and The Lonely Island.
We also chat with director Ellen Kuras, who worked as cinematographer on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and A Little Chaos with Winslet, about making her feature directorial debut, why she was compelled to tell Miller’s story with Winslet, why the British actor has a canny resemblance to the photographer, capturing moments in history and much more..

Lee opens in UK cinemas on September 13th.
