‘Star Wars’ regular John Boyega is set to star in Jeremy Saulnier’s Netflix thriller ‘Rebel Ridge’.

The movie is said to be a high-velocity thriller that explores systemic American injustices through bone-breaking action sequences, suspense and dark humour.

‘Green Room’ director Saulnier takes the helm on the film which he wrote. It will be produced by Filmscience and Bonneville Pictures. Saulnier will also produce alongside Anish Savjani, Neil Kopp, Vincent Savino.

No plot details, other casting or when the project will go into production has been made available.

Boyega will next be seen reprising his role of Finn in the final chapter of the current ‘Star Wars’ run in ‘The Rise of Skywalker’. He previously played the role in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ and ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’. Outside of the LucasFilm universe, he starred in Kathryn Bigelow’s racial drama ‘Detroit’ and ‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’. He also voiced the character of Bigwig in the BBC’s animated adaptation of ‘Watership Down’. Next year, we will see Boyega in ‘Naked Singularity’ alongside Bill Skarsgard and Olivia Cooke.

Saulnier is best known for taking the helm in the gruesome but thrilling ‘Green Room’ which starred Anton Yelchin. It told the story of a punk rock band who are forced to fight for survival after witnessing a murder at a neo-Nazi skinhead bar. Other previous work includes ‘Blue Ruin’ and ‘Hold The Dark’. He also directed 2 episodes of season 3 of ‘True Detective’.
