At number one, Saw 3D’s gross came to $24.2 million – a big improvement on the $14.1 million debut of the last movie, Saw VI. Saw II through to Saw V averaged around $32m, but taking into account that the latest (and last) instalment is now the seventh in the series, and the additional of 3D must surely have been a big factor in the box office performance.

Last week’s number one, Paranormal Activity 2, slipped to second place with $65,658,000 and Red held onto third position, coming in a little under $59m ($58,905,000) after 17 days on release.

Jackass 3-D is now at number four, having racked up a very impressive total to date of $101,578,000.
