Jason-Segel-and-Cameron-Diaz-in-Sex-TapeHaving directed the duo back in 2011 in Bad Teacher, Jake Kasdan is reuniting with Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz once more for this summer’s comedy, Sex Tape.

With the summer slot on the horizon, Sony are expected to release the first trailer very soon, and now the first image has landed in anticipation of that first footage.

When Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) first got together, their romantic connection was intense – but ten years and two kids later, the flame of their love needs a spark.  To kick things up a notch, they decide – why not? – to make a video of themselves trying out every position in The Joy of Sex in one marathon three-hour session.  It seems like a great idea – until they discover that their most private video is no longer private.  With their reputations on the line, they know they’re just one click away from being laid bare to the world… but as their race to reclaim their video leads to a night they’ll never forget, they’ll find that their video will expose even more than they bargained for.

Segel and Diaz are joined by Rob Corddry, Ellie Kemper, Jack Black, and Rob Lowe, which has the potential to be a brilliant ensemble.

Kasdan directs from a script by Kate Angelo (The Bernie Mac Show, The Back Up Plan).

The film will be facing some very tough competition at the box office, opening just a week after the Wachowski siblings’ anticipated blockbuster, Jupiter Ascending, and the same weekend as Brett Ratner’s Hercules: The Thracian Wars, which sees Dwayne Johnson take the titular role. Though Johnson has become a staple franchise-reenergiser for studios, he’s still something of an unknown when it comes to taking centre stage, so it’s going to be very interesting to see how the two movies face off, with Summit making things a little more complicated by releasing Step Up All In, the fifth instalment in the surprisingly successful dance movie series.

Sex Tape will be released on July 25th in the US, before opening a little later in the UK on 5th September. Whilst we eagerly await the first trailer, here’s the first image from the movie, teasing the titular moment.
