Danny Boyle’s Oscar winning success with Slumdog Millionaire must have led to floods of offers, but Boyle chose to take on the story of Aron Ralston and the 127 hours he spent at the bottom of a canyon with his arm trapped by a falling boulder.

The film is out in UK cinemas tomorrow and in this interview Boyle talks about the challenges of shooting, as he puts it, ‘an action movie where the main actor doesn’t move’.

I reviewed the film here, and I liked it more than most, and it’s worth seeing in cinemas, if for nothing else than to enjoy the audience react to the more visceral scenes in the movie.

Here’s the interview, conducted by our good friends at Upbeat.
