Every time we turn around Idris Elba seems to be lining up yet another role, this time the big fella has entered final negotiations to join action-fantasy ‘Mouse Guard’.

Elba would be joining the likes of Andy Serkis and Thomas Brodie-Sangster on the cast. Elba role is said to that of a mentor. He will play Celanawe a wise character in the same vein as Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Serkis will portray the villainous blacksmith Midnight and Brodie-Sangster will play Lieam, one of the Mouse Guard’s youngest members.

Maze Runners’ Wes Ball is at the helm of the film which is based on the graphic novel series. The story is set in a medieval times world without humans and centre on a brotherhood of mice sworn to serve their fellow mice.

‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ writer, Gary Whitta, is on board to pen the adaptation with ‘War For The Planet Of The Apes’ helmer Matt Reeves producing. Ross Richie and Stephen Christy, both of Boom! Studios — the publisher of ‘Mouse Guard’. Joe Hartwick Jr. is also producing.

Fox is looking to produce a live-action movie through performance capture technology employed in the ‘Planet of the Apes’ films, in which Serkis starred as the ape leader Caesar. This mean’s his performance capture skills will again be put to good use.

Idris can currently be seen in the Netflix series ‘Turn Up Charlie’ in which he also created. He will also be starring as the villain in the ‘Fast and Furious’ spin-off, ‘Hobbs and Shaw’ alongside Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham as well as taking over Will Smith’s role in the revamped ‘Suicide Squad’.
