Amanda Seyfried and Zac Efron are all set to voice the characters of Daphne and Fred in Warner Bros animated feature based on ‘Scooby Doo’.

The feature, which will be directed by Tony Cervone, will see the team partner up with other characters in the Hanna-Barbera universe to save the world from the evil Dick Dastardly.

Will Forte will play Shaggy, Gina Rodriguez is Velma, Tracy Morgan is Captain Caveman, and Frank Welker will reprise the voice of ol’ Scoobs. Welker was the voice-over for the mutt in the 1969-1970 series ‘Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!’

Chris Columbus, Pam Coats and Allison Abbate are producing. Executive producers are Charles Roven, Richard Suckle, Dan Povenmire and Adam Sztykiel.

Toward the end of the 1990s, Warner Bros. and producer Charles Roven began producing a series of feature live action films starring Scooby-Doo, beginning with the 2002 film ‘Scooby-Doo’, directed by Raja Gosnell. Gosnell also directed the 2004 sequel Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed which starred  Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar. A prequel television film, Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins (2009), was released by Cartoon Network. Brian Levant directed the film and its sequel, Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster (2010).

The feature is expected to be released in May 2020.

Efron was last seen alongside Hugh Jackman in the surprising runaway hit ‘The Greatest Showman’. He will next be seen as serial killer Ted Bundy in ‘Extremely Wicked, Shocking Evil and Vile’. He will also star opposite Matthew McConaughey in ‘The Beach Bum’.

Seyfried was last seen reprising her role of Sophie in ‘Mamma Mia: Here We Go Ago’. Her upcoming projects include the comedy ‘The Art of Racing in the Rain’ alongside Kevin Costner and thriller ‘You Should Have Left’ with Kevin Bacon.
