Let’s be honest, we all thought Sony was going to announce a price drop for their struggling handheld at this year’s E3.  That was one prediction I thought I had in the bag for sure, but to my surprise, I was wrong.  Less than one week later however, multiple retailers are coming out with strong incentives to buy Vitas in the form of a $50 gift card.  Seems kind of fishy to me, you usually see one maybe two retailers using such an alluring tactic, but four, come on – something is going down.

Best Buy, Target, Amazon, and GameStop (PUR Members) are all offering $50 gift cards for people who buy Vitas.  They must know something we don’t, which is usually the case, but you have to admit that this is very prophetic and has to lead to a price drop announcement.  So guess what, I’m going to make a new prediction, one that is still involving a price drop and it is that the PS Vita will receive a price drop of $50 by the end of this June.

Why else would all these mega retailers be offering such a sweet deal?  It’s because they know of the coming storm.  They know that if they don’t toss out an offer like this prior to the announcement people who buy now will feel slighted and they want to avoid that at all costs.  This is an awesome way to stimulate sales and if a price drop is announced it’s a win-win for everyone.

Regardless, this is a great offer, so if you were on the fence about a Vita, this is as good a time as any to score one.  Well, someone needs to keep tabs on this prediction to see whether or not I’m right (I choose you, unsuspecting reader).  Until then stay tuned for more of my ramblings here at HeyUGuys Gaming.
