House of Cards

Netflix have today confirmed that they have picked up House of Cards for a third season. While the debut of the second season is only 10 days away, this actually marks the first renewal for the drama as it originally landed at the online streaming service with a a two season order.

Last October, Netflix’s Ted Sarandos said, “Our intent is that the show keep going for sure. It was a 26-episode commitment. It was not our intent that it just run for two seasons.” Deadline adds that negotiations for a third outing have been happening for months now. Hardly a surprise when it was House of Cards which helped put Netflix on the map as a serious rival to TV for original programming.

Hemlock Grove and Orange Is The New Black have been renewed for second seasons, while talk is ongoing for another batch of Arrested Development episodes.

Another big commitment recently made by Netflix was four series from Marvel; Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist.
