Christian Bale plays legendary American Army captain Joseph J, Blocker, battle hardened and bitter with a burning hatred for Native Americans. When he’s ordered to escort a dying Cheyenne war chief (Wes Studi) and his family back to tribal lands in Montana from an isolated outpost in New Mexico, he’s initially resistant but agrees to the task.
Directed by Out of the Furnace’s Scott Copper, the film stars Christian Bale as Blocker, Rosamund Pike as Rosalie Quaid, a suicidal widow who undertakes the harrowing and perilous journey after the murder of her family on the plains by Comanche Indians., Ben Foster as Philip Wills, a criminal whom Blocker is escorting north, Wes Studi as Yellow Hawk, an imprisoned and sickly war chief being brought home to die, and Jesse Plemens as a member of the unit tasked in escort the war chief home.
