To celebrate the release of Saltburn, now out in UK cinemas, we had the pleasure (and plenty of laughs) of chatting to wrier/director Emerald Fennell about her twisted, brilliant new film.

Struggling to find his place at Oxford University, student Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan) finds himself drawn into the world of the charming and aristocratic Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi), who invites him to Saltburn, his eccentric family’s sprawling estate, for a summer never to be forgotten.

Chatting to Fennell, we talk about the genesis of the story, why it was perfect for her sophomore directing effort, casting the film and the brilliance of Barry Keoghan, Jacob Elordi, Rosamund Pike, and more, why the story is set in the mid-2000s and what that gave her in terms of storytelling, the reaction to the film’s brilliant dance sequence, as well as much humour and laughs in between.

Saltburn is in UK cinemas from November 17th.
