In the video below, Jessica Jones star Mike Colter confirms that Luke Cage’s solo series will hit Netflix on September 30th, quite a bit sooner than the November premiere date of Jessica Jones last year. There are also comments from the cast of Marvel’s Daredevil!

The official synopsis for the series reveals that after a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city–forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.

Colter is joined in Luke Cage by Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe, Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth, Theo Rossi as Shades, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, a character Luke met back in Jessica Jones.

Rumours of a big screen adventure for Luke Cage persisted for years before he was made part of Netflix’s corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Recently, it’s been reported that Iron Fist will show up in the series, though that’s something Marvel are more than likely going to keep as a surprise. For now, at least we have Daredevil to enjoy in a week’s time!
