American Reunion posterThe US release of American Reunion, the fourth (genuine) instalment in the American Pie series, is just around the corner, and we’ve been seeing nothing but great things from the film in recent months.

Last week brought with it a host of clips and images, as well as a new featurette, and now we have a new red-band trailer and another great new featurette to share with you, via Collider and Yahoo Movies, respectively.

“In the comedy American Reunion, all the American Pie characters we met a little more than a decade ago are returning to East Great Falls for their high-school reunion. In one long-overdue weekend, they will discover what has changed, who hasn’t and that time and distance can’t break the bonds of friendship. It was summer 1999 when four small-town Michigan boys began a quest to lose their virginity. In the years that have passed, Jim and Michelle married while Kevin and Vicky said goodbye. Oz and Heather grew apart, but Finch still longs for Stifler’s mom. Now these lifelong friends have come home as adults to reminisce about—and get inspired by—the hormonal teens who launched a comedy legend.”

Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, the duo that brought us Harold and Kumar, have taken over both writing and directing duties, and it looks like they’ve done a fantastic job, bringing back all of the original cast as well as a few new faces. Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Seann William Scott, Mena Suvari, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nichols, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Shannon Elizabeth, Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge, and John Cho will all be reprising their original roles, with 30 Rock’s Katrina Bowden and Heroes’ Dania Ramirez rounding out the new additions to the cast

If you want to keep spoiler-free, the new featurette is the one for you, as it’s a lovely nostalgic look at the cast talking about their memories from making the first American Pie film over a decade ago. (Though when the ‘American Reunion’ banner comes in at the 2:12 mark, you’ll have a bit of footage from the new film, so it’s up to you if you’d like to cut it short there.)

As usual with the red-band trailer, and as you can no doubt imagine from the American Pie franchise, this latest trailer is not suitable for work – so if you’re reading this at your desk/wherever you work, you’ll want to check back in later.

American Reunion will be released in the US next Friday, 6th April, and will then come to our shores here in the UK a little later on 2nd May. I can’t wait. Until then, the new trailer and featurette for your viewing pleasure.

(Side-note: For anyone interested, the music kicking off the new featurette is Good Charlotte’s Last Night, an awesome song that suggests we can expect a continuation of the franchise’s trend of including ridiculously good music on their soundtracks.)
