Vin Diesel and writer-director David Twohy’s return to the Riddick franchise for the third instalment, Riddick, has been a long time coming, and it’s a project I’ve been following closely and loving the look of every step of the way.

Diesel has been putting out a host of brilliant images from the set through production, via his Facebook, and now, with a salute to his fans, he brings us the excellent news that production finishes tomorrow!

“Tomorrow is the last day of principal photography… and you who have willed this rated “R” Riddick into being, will be proud.

Universal is so excited about what they have been seeing that they are now making me especially excited to see the finished film…

Haha…

When is the release date Uni?… Our page wants to know.

P.s. Thanks for the positivity you bring… it makes it all worth it.”

He of course asks an excellent question, one that we definitely want to know – when is the release date?

With production just about to wrap up, I’m hoping we’ll have an answer for you soon, because this is a film I can’t wait to see, and having a fixed date might make that wait ever so slightly easier to bear (with a bit of luck, it’ll be sooner rather than later).

Diesel will of course be reprising the role he first brought to the screen in Pitch Black and then the sequel, The Chronicles of Riddick, and will be joined once more by Karl Urban (who played Vaako in the second film), along with a number of new faces, including Katee Sackhoff, Jordi Mollà, Matt Nable, Bokeem Woodbine, Nolan Gerard Funk, singer-turning-actress Keri Hilson, and WWE’s Dave Bautista.

Diesel and Twohy have been working hard to ensure that Riddick will be everything the fans want it to be – securing the R-rated film they set out to make – and I have every faith that fans of the franchise as well as newcomers will love every minute of it. I’m so excited to see how it turns out too.
