To celebrate the release of Goodnight Mommy, which arrives on Amazon Prime Video this weekend, we sat down with the cast of this chilling remake to find out all about it.

When twin brothers (Cameron and Nicholas Crovetti) arrive at their mother’s (Naomi Watts) country home to discover her face covered in bandages— the result, she explains, of recent cosmetic surgery—they immediately sense that something doesn’t add up. She sets strange new house rules, smokes in her bathroom, and secretly rips up a drawing they gave her—things their loving mother would never do. As her behavior grows increasingly bizarre and erratic, a horrifying thought takes root in the boys’ minds: The sinking suspicion that the woman beneath the gauze, who’s making their food and sleeping in the next room, isn’t their mother at all.

Watts, no stranger to the horror genre after The Ring, talks about how she was convinced by the remake and director Matt Sobel’s idea for the film that was more physiological than the original, playing a character unlike any she has played before, the different acting methods from behind a mask and working with the Crovetti twins. The twins themselves talk about working together on-screen again and the uneasy relationship between them and Watts in the film, what scares them, and their quest to complete the Aussie trifecta after having Watts and Nicole Kidman play their mothers on screen. Watch out Margot Robbie.
