As traction builds on the production of M. Knight Shyamalan’s Glass (the third in the Unbreakable/Split trilogy) casting news has seeped through with both Unbreakable actors, Spencer Treat Clarke and Charlayne Wood reprising their roles.
Clark will be returning as Bruce Willis’ son, while Woodard is returning to play Jackson’s mother.
Earlier in the year Knight Shyamalan surprised everyone when his latest release, Split which starred James McAvoy as the man with multiple personalities, Kevin Wendell Crumb, emerged as a back-handed follow-up to Unbreakable leaving the path wide open for Shyamalan to introduce Glass into the series fold.
McAvoy will be returning as Kevin in Glass and will be joined by Unbreakable’s Bruce Willis as security guard David Dunn, who is imbued with superpowers, Samuel L. Jackson will also make an appearance as Elijah Price aka Mr Glass. Anya Taylor Joy – who starred opposite McAvoy in Split will also be returning as Casey Cooke, the only young lady to survive an encounter with The Beast. Sarah Paulson is also on the call sheet in a new undisclosed role.
A brief outline of the plot reads; The film finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Elijah Price, aka Mr. Glass (Jackson), emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.
Written and directed by Shyamalan, Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions will be producing alongside Ashwin Rajan and Marc Bienstock. Steven Schneider will executive produce.
Clarke has recently been seen in Agents of Shield as Werner von Strucker and Woodard has appeared on recent episodes of The Leftovers and The Blacklist
Glass has been slated for January 2019 release by Universal.
