In the past few months we’ve had a number
Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders jumped on board to make the long-awaited live action version of Shirow’s greatest hit. The original 1995 film was a huge boost for the ever-expanding move of anime to the West. With Akira, the timeless work of Studio Ghibli and, later, the works of the late Satoshi Kon helped to inspire many filmmakers emerging in the 90s. The visual style of popular anime would have a direct influence over films such as The Matrix, which would return full circle with the release of The Animatrix – a prequel anthology of shorts.
UPDATE: Paramount have just released a new poster as well, which looks lovely. See it below.
New Ghost in the Shell Movie Poster
Juliette Binoche and Michael Pitt are joining Johansson for this neon-laced futureshock, and the recently released first trailer gives us a good indication of the scope and style of Sanders’ take on the material. Game of Thrones’ Pilou Asbæk and the wonderful Takeshi Kitano are also on board for the film.
Here’s a new look at Joahnsson – Ghost in the Shell will be released in the US and the UK on the 31st of March. Can’t wait.
