Tiffany Rose interviews Director Gary Ross for his movie Free State of Jones.
During the interview they discuss how much research he did before making the movie, working with the likes of British actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Matthew McConaughey and what it is about the Civil War and specifically Newton Knight (upon whom the movie is based) that is so appealing to audiences.
Free State of Jones is out on the 30th of September.
Synopsis:
A disillusioned Confederate army deserter returns to Mississippi and leads a militia of fellow deserters, runaway slaves, and women in an uprising against the corrupt local Confederate government.
