The season six premiere of Game of Thrones was light on answers when it came to the fate of Jon Snow (that’s a plot thread which is clearly going to unravel over the course of the next few episodes), but it set up the rest of the year in a very satisfying way and ended on a shocking reveal which has had everyone talking over the past twenty four hours or so.

Now, HBO has released a first look at next week’s instalment along with a couple of very cryptic descriptions for the second and third episodes of the critically acclaimed drama.

Episode two is titled “Home” and is described as follows: “Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) trains with the Three-Eyed Raven (Max von Sydow). In King’s Landing, Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) advises Tommen (Dean-Charles Chapman). Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) demands good news, but has to make his own. At Castle Black, the Night’s Watch stands behind Thorne (Owen Teale). Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) proposes a plan, and Balon Greyjoy (Patrick Malahide) entertains other proposals.” That’s all rather intriguing, don’t you think?

As for the third episode, we now know that’s called “Oathbreaker”, and the synopsis for that promises the following: “Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) meets her future. Bran meets the past. Tommen confronts the High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce). Arya (Maisie Williams) trains to be No One. Varys (Conleth Hill) finds an answer. Ramsay gets a gift.” As we said, they’re cryptic!

Conspicuous by his absence is of course Jon Snow. Are we going to have to accept that he’s really gone or are David Benioff and D. B. Weiss deliberately keeping us on tenterhooks about where Game of Thrones is going next? Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait and see…
