4. The Great Outdoors – The Old 96-er
John Candy was a comedy legend, and whilst The Great Outdoors wasn’t his best film by far, it certainly played to his strengths.
Candy’s Chet, on the vacation from hell, takes the family to a restaurant for dinner. What can go wrong? There, however, he is challenged to take on The Old 96-er, 96 pounds of pure steaky goodness. Chet is up for the challenge, however, and suffers through a marathon of 90 pounds of prime beef.
Finally, he proudly declares himself finished. The chef, however, disagrees. There’s a good 6 pounds of fat and gristle left on the plate…
