5. Blazing Saddles – Beans
You can just imagine a young Mel Brooks laid in front of the television as a child, someone with his appetite for humour must have despaired of the staple diet of western TV shows that would have been prevalent in his early years. Desperately looking for humour wherever he could find it, he presumably would watch cowboys sitting eating beans by campfires mystified as to why biology wasn’t taking its course.
So, once he was making pictures, he had his chance. A scene dedicated to no other cause than to show cowboys letting rip as the beans wreak havoc on their digestive systems. Impossibly juvenile, but irresistably funny.
