Clint Eastwood returns this year in Trouble with the Curve, the highly-anticipated film that sees the Oscar-winning multi-hyphenate in front of the camera for the first time since 2008’s Gran Torino.

We got our first look at Eastwood alongside co-stars Amy Adams and Justin Timberlake last week, and now the first trailer has debuted over at Yahoo Movies, and it is impeccable.

The official synopsis is still yet to be released, but the basic premise sees Eastwood playing,

“an aging baseball scout, who’s losing his sight, and heads on a last road trip to Atlanta with his daughter to scout a hotshot prospect.”

Starring alongside the leading trio will be John Goodman, Matthew Lillard, Robert Patrick, and newcomer Joe Massingill.

Robert Lorenz, Eastwood’s long-time producing partner/second assistant director on the likes of Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River, and Gran Torino, makes his feature directorial debut, with a script by newcomer Randy Brown.

Trouble with the Curve will be released in the US on 21st September, before coming to the UK a little later on 30th November. With such high talent involved, this definitely looks like a strong candidate for the coming awards season, and it will be very interesting to see if Timberlake can pull a Jonah Hill in the Best Supporting category. I can’t wait to see how it unfolds.
