We first heard last November that a Keith Lemon film was on the way, and now its release is inching closer at the tail-end of August.

Leigh Francis, also known as Bo’ Selecta!’s Avid Merrion, also known as Keith Lemon, has co-written the script with Paul Angunawela (Keith Lemon’s Fit), with Verne Troyer, Kevin Bishop, Laura Aikman, and Kelly Brook co-starring alongside side Francis’ alter-ego.

“A comedy about Keith following his dreams of becoming a successful entrepreneur, just like his hero Richard Branson. He comes to London from Leeds, becomes an overnight billionaire then an over day failure before finding the road to redemption”

Lionsgate UK have released the first trailer and UK quad poster (the latter via Digital Spy), ahead of its release this summer.

Angunawela is behind the camera, with a number of famous faces taking cameos, including the likes of David Hasselhoff, Fearne Cotton, Emma Bunton and Mel C from Spice Girls, Jedward, and Holly Willoughby.

Keith Lemon: The Film will be released on 24th August in the UK and Ireland. That weekend won’t see many new films going up against it, with the biggest competition from The Three Stooges and the Clive Owen-starrer Shadow Dancer. But given that Pixar’s Brave is released on 17th August, as well as The Expendables 2 and the Seth Rogen- and Michelle Williams-starrer Take This Waltz, I wouldn’t be surprised if Pixar will be taking the top spot two weeks in a row.
