2006’s Silent Hill is, in my opinion, one of the few video game adaptations that has effectively captured the spirit of the game that inspired it. Sure it had its problems, particularly in the final third, but overall it was a lot of fun and a damn enjoyable film.

The shoot for the sequel, Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, is underway now and Empire has the first pic from the shoot that reveals very little but shows actress Adelaide Clemens in her role as Heather Mason. Clements has a number of small roles to her name to date so this will be her first feature length starring role.

My hopes are high for the sequel given the involvement of director Michael J Bassett who directed the rather ace Solomon Kane last year. Bassett also wrote the screenplay that will focus on Heather, who has been plagued by nightmares all of her life, and is searching for her missing father. In order to do so she must delve deep into a mysterious demonic world where she soon questions everything she knows about herself. Heather was the protagonist of the third instalment of the video game series but the film will apparently borrow elements from a number of the titles.

We’ll update you with more news as and when we get it but until then enjoy the pic:
