End of Watch posterJake Gyllenhaal returns in David Ayer’s End of Watch, his first feature since last year’s brilliant success story, Source Code.

Alongside him is a brilliant cast, headed up by Michael Peña, Anna Kendrick, and America Ferrara for what should be an interesting take on the cop crime-drama.

We got our first awesome look at the trailer and promo poster last month, and now Fandango have debuted the official first poster, putting Gyllenhaal and Peña front and centre.

“A powerful story of family, friendship, love, honor and courage, End Of Watch stars Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña as young Los Angeles police officers Taylor and Zavala as they patrol the city’s meanest streets of south central Los Angeles.

Giving the story a gripping, first-person immediacy, the action unfolds entirely through footage from the handheld HD cameras of the police officers, gang members, surveillance cameras, and citizens caught in the line of fire to create a riveting portrait of the city’s darkest, most violent corners, the cops who risk their lives there every day, and the price they and their families are forced to pay.”

Ayer’s credits include penning the Oscar-winning script for Training Day, and will be his third time behind the camera after directing Christian Bale in Harsh Times and the all-star cast of Street Kings.

End of Watch will be released in the US on 28th September. Still no word yet on if/when we can expect to see it in the UK, but I’m hoping with Gyllenhaal and Peña in the lead, it’ll just be a matter of time before a UK release is announced. More as we get it. And as usual, you can click this first poster below to enlarge.
