It’s always fun when those first images of an actor inhabiting the role of a well-known historical figure crop up online, and these on-set pics from Lee Daniels’ The Butler are no exception.

Based on the tale of Eugene Allen, a White House servant who worked for eight of the First Families (talk about loyalty), the film boasts an all-star cast, including the likes of John Cusack, Robin Williams, James Marsden, Liev Schreiber as some of the presidents Allen served.

Another of those, Ronald Reagan, has been brought to life below via the great Alan Rickman, with an uncanny-looking Jane Fonda as his wife, Nancy. The images were tweeted via co-star Oprah Winfrey (pictured with Lenny Kravitz, looking bizarrely like David Walliams here) who is making one of her rare appearances on the big screen.

Filming is still underway at the moment, so we should expect to see this intriguing project towards to end of next year. Wonder how many 2014 Supporting Actor Oscar noms will consist of those who are portraying president here?
