Four-time Oscar-winning writer-director brothers Ethan and Joel Coen return behind the camera for the first time since 2010’s True Grit for a musical drama set in New York’s 1960s folk scene, Inside Llewyn Davis.

Headed up by a fantastic cast including Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, Justin Timberlake, Garrett Hedlund, and John Goodman, filming is currently underway and we’ve now got the first photos from the set giving us a look at Mulligan, Isaac, and Timberlake.

Plot details are being kept under wraps at the moment, but we know that Isaac will star as a folk musician trying to make it in New York, and Timberlake will be playing Mulligan’s husband, though details about her character aren’t yet known. The Playlist also note that a profile of the filming in the NY Times this month added that the film will be a ‘screwball comedy’, which should make for a very interesting blend with the musical and dramatic elemtsn.

Well-known as two of the best writers and directors in the industry, a Coen brothers project is always going to be something to look forward to, and this is of course no exception. No word yet on when exactly Inside Llewyn Davis will be coming to the big screen, but it’s expected to be released sometime next year.
