The first photos from the set of Doctor Strange have found their way online, and they feature Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo. This scene clearly takes place shortly after the car crash which severely damages Strange’s hands, something which leads to the surgeon seeking out the help of The Ancient One.
In the comic books, Doctor Strange and Baron Mordo end up becoming bitter enemies when it’s revealed that the latter is planning on murdering The Ancient One after aligning himself with the demonic Dormammu. Whether or not that’s going to happen in the movie remains to be seen, but based on Strange’s bedraggled look, this is most likely their first meeting.
Despite coming out in a year with the likes of Captain America: Civil War and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on the way, it’s not hard to be even more excited about Doctor Strange based on both the cast and the very unique type of superhero movie this will be.
Written by Jon Spaihts and directed by Scott Derrickson, Doctor Strange also stars Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, Michael, Stuhlbarg, and Mads Mikkelsen. It’s set to be released on November 4th, 2016, so we’ll hopefully see something official from the movie pretty soon.
