It’s fair to say a high level of anticipation is geared towards Bronson director Nicolas Winding Refn’s US debut, the action drama Drive. Replete with a solid line-up (the likes of Carey Mulligan, Christina Hendricks, Ron Perlman, Bryan Cranston and Albert Brooks make up the main cast, with lead Ryan Gosling) the film will make its bow on the Croisette in a couple of weeks time.

The Cannes Festival website is also the first place to debut a clip from the film, which shows Gosling (who plays a Hollywood stunt driver, moonlighting as a criminal getaway driver for hire) in action, displaying a cool and level-headed approach to his after-hours employment.

The film in featured in the main competition slot, so it’s fair to say (particularly given Refn’s involvement) that this isn’t your typical no-brain Hollywood actioner. Enjoy.

Drive is due in UK cinemas on September 23.
