Christian-Bale-in-ExodusDarren Aronofsky’s Noah isn’t the only biblical epic to hit the big screens next year, with Ridley Scott’s Exodus arriving in cinemas right at the end of the year.

Its positioning in December 2014 suggests that Fox is eyeing it as an awards contender. And whilst we await the first footage from the film to surface, the first shot of Christian Bale in the lead as Moses has surfaced, via Empire.

Bale is joined by a terrific cast, led by Aaron Paul, Joel Edgerton, Sigourney Weaver, John Turturro, and Ben Kingsley.

Scott, who has been firing on all cylinders across a slew of genres in recent years, directs from a script penned by Steven Zaillian (Moneyball, Schindler’s List) and Bill Collage and Adam Cooper (Tower Heist).

Exodus will be released in the UK on 5th December, before heading to the US a week later on December 12th, 2014, in perfect territory for a drive towards the Oscars, BAFTAs, and all the other major awards.
