Funnily enough, this isn’t the first time we’ve sat down with a puppet but certainly the first time we’ve done so with one who swears so much – as to mark the release of The Happytime Murders, we had the immense pleasure of meeting the hero himself, detective Phil Philips (voiced, we should add, by the hilarious Bill Barretta).

We ask Phil what Connie (Melissa McCarthy) was like a partner, and he tells us what it is that disgruntles him most about working in law enforcement. He also gets deep and tells us whether he’s ever faced discrimination as a puppet in what is otherwise a man’s world, and tells us what the best crime was that he ever solved.

He ends with some advice for fellow puppets who want to get into detective work, and tells us who his very favourite on-screen detective is – and his answer comes as little surprise.
