Domink Moll’s adaptation of Matthew Lewis’s grand gothic novel The Monk enters UK cinemas on Friday and we’ve got an exclusive clip from the film for you today.
Vincent Cassell brings his considerable presence to the complex role of Ambrosio, a devout monk whose seductive and captivating sermons have made him an attractive figure and it is these qualities, along with the arrival of the mysterious and disfigured Valerio which provide the fertile ground for his downfall.
The film is an excellent take on the novel, with Cassell doing some amazing work in Moll’s visually sumptious adaptation and the clip we have here is perhaps the tipping point for Ambrosio.
The Monk is out on the 27th of April and comes highly recommended.
