To celebrate the eagerly-anticipated release of Medici: The Magnificent, which comes to Netflix later this week, we spoke to some of the cast and filmmakers behind this historical epic.

Medici: The Magnificent follows the first chapter of the anthology series with Season Two picking up 20 years after the first season in 15th century Florence and takes us to the heart of the Renaissance through one of the most important historical figures of all times, Lorenzo the Magnificent – where an attempt on Piero de Medici’s life forces his son Lorenzo (Daniel Sharman) to assume leadership of the family-run bank.

Once in power, young Lorenzo, nicknamed The Magnificent, resolves to do things differently, which swiftly brings him into conflict with the head of Florence’s other powerful banking family, Jacopo Pazzi (Sean Bean) who will stop at nothing to defeat Lorenzo The Magnificent. Their clash gives rise to one of the most thrilling political intrigues of all time, the infamous Pazzi conspiracy.

You can watch the interviews below with stars Bradley James, Alessandra Mastronardi, Synnøve Karlsen and producer Frank Sponitz.

Medici: The Magnificent is available to stream on Netflix on January 25th.
