Emma Stone is carving out a nicely erratic career path in Hollywood, taking in the expected teen comedies and then throwing a turn to star in Zombieland and Paper Man.
While Easy A looks like being closer to sitting happily in the former category, I’m hoping there’ll be enough of a twist in the sexual politics of this high school yarn to elevate it from its genre roots.
Emma Stone has the role of Olive Penderghast and is joined by a pretty impressive cast, taking in Stanley Tucci, Amanda Bynes, Lisa Kudrow and Malcolm McDowell to tell the tale of a girl whose social standing is buffeted and kept afloat by the high school’s rumour factory.
Here’s the trailer, seems fairly attractive with the added bonus of the possibility of a dark heart.
