The video game developer is allegedly developing ‘Madden Curse’, a spoof sport comedy based on the game’s urban myth that any star that graces the cover art of the latest Madden video game will be struck down with a career-ending injury.

VP of EA Entertainment, Pat O’Brien, is said to be steering the project which certainly has an eerie history to draw from.

In 1999, cover star Garrison Hearst broke his leg and never recovered, in 2000 box lead Dorsey Levens injured his knee and never won his starting job back, and in 2004 Michael Vick broke his leg one day after Madden 2004 was released.

And that’s just a summary of the curse, which has felled countless more.

The movie will follow the tale of a former Madden champion who comes out of retirement just as he finds himself gracing the cover of the latest edition, and his struggle to evade his fate.

So Final Destination meets Any Given Sunday then.
