San Andreas broke box office records this past weekend, and now Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is looking to add another project to his already very busy schedule. According to The Wrap, he’s set to star in a remake of Big Trouble in Little China. The movie is being written by X-Men: First Class’ Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz.

Johnson will play Jack Burton, ” an all-American trucker who gets dragged into a centuries-old mystical battle in San Francisco’s Chinatown.”  He’ll also produce the remake of John Carpenter‘s cult classic.

The site reveals that the wrestler turned actor is a fan or the original film and actually pitched it to rights holders Fox alongside his producing partners at Seven Bucks Productions, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia.

The original 1986 version of Big Trouble in Little China starred Kurt Russell and Kim Cattrall, and earned a paltry $11 million. That hasn’t stopped it from developing a devoted fan following in the years which have followed though. There’s no word on a production start date or release date for the remake just yet.

As well as Big Trouble in Little China, Johnson is also attached to anticipated DC Comics movie Shazam.
