The cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming continues to grow, and the latest addition is Community and The Martian star Donald Glover. The actor has some history with the wall-crawler after campaigning hard to take over as Peter Parker when Sony rebooted the franchise in 2012 before Andrew Garfield ultimately ended up landing the iconic Marvel role.

He’s also since voiced Miles Morales in the popular Ultimate Spider-Man animated series.

While his role is being kept secret, Glover obviously won’t be playing THE Spider-Man as that has been filled by Tom Holland (who we first saw in action in Captain America: Civil War).

10 things you need to know about Spider-Man: Homecoming

However, based on previous rumours that Spider-Man: Homecoming will have a second villain in the form of The Tinkerer, it would certainly be interesting to see him deliver a very different take on the character. He’s too old for a high school student anyway, so until we hear something official, expect speculation about his role here to continue running rampant.

Glover joins a cast which so far also includes Robert Downey Jr., Michael Keaton, Maris Tomei, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, and Laura Harrier. Tom Watts is directing, while Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige will be overseeing things now that Spider-Man is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With any luck, more details will be revealed at Comic-Con…
